A consultant helps you decide which British boarding schools suit your child, then manages the admissions process: registrations, entrance tests such as UKiset or the ISEB Common Pre-Test, interviews, school visits, offers and the visa. At WBS we meet and assess every child first, and we only introduce them to schools where we believe they will thrive.
The average full boarding fee at Independent Schools Council schools was £14,980 a term in January 2026, before VAT (ISC Census 2026). Since 1 January 2025, 20% VAT applies to private school fees, including boarding, so a typical year now costs well over £50,000 once VAT and extras are added. For 13+ entry, many schools ask you to register two to three years ahead, with pre-tests in Year 6 or 7. For 11+, allow about two years, and for sixth form (16+), one to two years. If you need a place sooner, our British School Clearing service finds places at short notice.
Almost all UK boarding schools require international pupils whose parents live overseas to have a UK educational guardian. It is a school requirement rather than a legal one. The guardian looks after your child at exeats and half terms, attends school events and is the school's emergency contact. WBS Guardians is AEGIS accredited.
